My Midnight Monstrous Meal

I am an Absolute Junkie (And by that I mean I am a huge Junk Food fan)... and especially at night this craving for eating something awesome fills my insides and the desire is too strong to resist. The only thing that I can think of at these times is something that tingles every taste bud inside my mouth and something which is so flavorsome that ever flavor plays a game of hide and seek with my tongue. I am a Foodie, But I don't eat during the day. This is mainly out of habit for the last few years where I have lived by the American Time and thus when others sleep, its my Lunchtime... Alas, people do not really understand this !!!

Well, the point is that I love eating and more than that I love to cook. Cooking is like a Stress Buster. Its my way of comforting my system and assuring it that there still is beauty and hope in this world. And My Mind and Soul needs this comforting usually when I sit alone at night and find nothing else to do but to think about all sorts of stupid negative things. Hence, every once in a while I design for myself what I call "My Midnight Monstrous Meal".

This meal is not simple. Its not healthy. It is full of harmful calories and cholesterol and fat and carbs and whatever a Diet Expert would say no to. But whatever said and done, It is the best feeling. It is like a friend to whon you can tell your deepest secrets... Every bite is as satisfying as a passionate kiss from your lover!!! Exaggerated?!? Yes!!! Well, thats how I feel about my Lovely Midnight Monster No. 1!!!

Let me now take pleasure in introducing to you "My Midnight Monster No. 1" !!!

This is basically a Frankie or a Roll. Purely home-made and to an extent healthy and a wholesome meal if had at the proper hour. I have it late night so it is a total no-no to those calorie conscious friends of mine who count as they eat. Even if I was to explode my love for food would not fade.

Well, so lets get back to the Recipe!!!

We need :

* Roti (Chapati as we call it... its basically an Indian Bread made from whole wheat flour and roasted on a griddle)
* Boneless chichen / Pre-prepared Tikkas with a spicy tomato and onion gravy... it should not be runny or too dry. It needs to be think but moist enough to coat a surface. I have my own recipe for the gravy as well, but you can play with the flavors of your choice.
* Finely Chopped Onion
* Garam masala
* Salt
* Finely Chopped Tomatoes
* Egg
* Oil / Butter / Ghee

All you have to do is, beat the egg with a pinch of salt and some spice if you prefer... I personally recommend black pepper thats freshly ground... Gives an amazing punch to the whole preparation.
Heat a pan and warm the roti a bit. No need of adding any oil at this point. coat one side of roti with the beaten egg and then fry it with about 1 tea spoon of oil till the egg is done... place in the serving dish.
Stuff it with some onion, tomatoes (carrots, bell peppers etc if your wish to and like). Season to taste with some salt, garam masala and chat masala. Stuff some chicken and then roll it into a Frankie roll. Cut down the middle and serve it warm with side salad of your choice.

Now, the best part about this is that its a one dish meal and can be made with a variety of stuffing... veg, non-veg, eggs anything you like and can fancy. When I make it I prefer Wheat roti so that I am being careful of my Maida intake... Secondly, I keep a check on the oil I use - Quality wise and Quantity wise!!! And I always make sure that I use fresh crisp Veggies to make the salad for stuffing as well as on the side... means a lot of Fiber.

One more tip is that when you are having something of this sort, you can have a glass of juice (Not soda or Tang) maybe Lemon Juice or Orange Juice so that You drain out the Fats and Meaty Taste.

So there you are. I have shared with you one of my Favorite Midnight Monsters!!! And I wish you enjoy it too.

Eat Unhealthy in a Shameless Guilt-free way once a while... It is fun!!! Spoil yourself!!! Pamper those taste buds!!! And see how you feel and let me know as well!!!

Enjoy!!!
